I grew up in Japan with ryokans and onsen.
After moving to Canada, I realized how much I love that side of my home country, and how much I love sharing it.
So in 2024 I took friends from overseas to a ryokan in an onsen town. We soaked in hot springs, ate too much, worked on our own projects, and slowed down for a few days.
It was the most personal project I've ever done.
And it's coming back.
Why I started Onsen Retreat
The first trip, summer 2024
“In the retreat, I was able to enjoy the serenity of rural Japan, like taking a walk around hills, having meals in small local food shop, and chatter with the restaurant owners, visit art galleries, and most importantly enjoy hot onsen every day! I haven't got so well rested before for many years, thank you Taishi for organizing this retreat!”
